It’s Kev & James.

Hey friends! James Woodrich here with my friend Kevin Connolly to tell you a little about our new podcast show. First, full disclosure, we are new to this domain, and learning how to be podcasters. But we do know that we miss talking to our friends. That’s what started this rabbit hole of an idea. It turned into a conversation, asking "why don’t we create a show to talk to ALL the artists, club and restaurant owners, service industry people, and/or any creative people that would like to come on and tell us their story?" Not the sad stories. We all know that part. We want to hear about your "pivot" - creating something new, re-creating yourself, learning a new hobby or craft, and maybe even a few crazy road stories from the past. We want to celebrate you as a creative person and show others out there we can find a way to make something new and dig out of this dark place in history. We hope you’ll join us and if you have a crazy story to tell please write us at KevandJames@theKevandJamesShow.com.
Thank you and PLEASE…PLEASE, keep on being creative!

S2 EP2: Toby Brown

episode posts S2 E2-38.jpg

It's already mid-April again?!?! Weird. Wasn't it just Christmas?!?

Anyhow, guess what? We here at the K & J show are megastoked to say that we just finished and released Episode 2 and it's a darn good time! We talk about fun stuff like vaccinations, crocheting projects, vegetable and herb gardening, favorite writing utensils, and wicker. Riveting stuff here!

More importantly, our friend and interview guest Toby Brown spends an unhealthy amount of time talking to us, reminiscing on the road-dog days when he managed James's rock band My Hotel Year, his recent pandemic life, and his exciting career as an African safari tour guide company owner. This guy has seen and done it all! We had a blast hangin and chattin with Toby, and we think you'll find yourself intrigued and chuckling along with our sophomoric humor and conversation. And when you are ready to book your trip to Africa to see the most amazing examples of "the wild" while loudly singing choruses of Toto's "Africa" in multipart harmonies, consider Toby and his company Outdoor Africa as as your source for the experience of a lifetime!

Enjoy the episode and do that vaccine thing! As the Offspring once sang... "you gotta keep them vaccinated!"

Be well , friends! Hang in there. We got this!

S2 EP1: Rion Smith

Hello out there, dear friends of the Kev & James Show!

We are super psyched to announce that we are back in action, as we start our 2021 season off with a bangin' new episode, featuring our great friend and fellow Blue Man Group musician, Rion Smith. We discuss our ongoing PP Dances we are doing these days during this pandemic, and the exciting new projects that Rion has in store. This includes and focuses on the launch of Studio 1509, a recording studio which Rion built almost entirely by himself over the last year and some, and we could not be more stoked for him as he brings this to the music community for all to see and hear. It is truly incredible, and we can't wait for you to check his place out!

We are thankful to have Rion's time to help us carry on our podcast and share some laughs and quality discussions.

Give us a listen, a like, a subscribe, a nod, a thumbs up, or just a socially-distanced hug if at all possible! And if you are feeling extra saucy, spend some of that stimmy dough and buy yourself a nice new K&J Show piece of merch over at our Threadless shop! You'll be helping us keep this show moving forward, and the world looking more stylin'!

Feels so good to be back! Hope you enjoy the episode. Stay safe out there, friends!

EP 10: Colin Robinson

The K&J Show has achieved the goal of creating TEN episodes! We set out to produce a full “season” of shows, and with this tenth episode’s release, we are stoked to say that it’s our season finale for a little bit as we take a pause for the holidays.

Our guest that we “saved for last” we felt was appropriate. Good buddy and fellow Blue Man Group musician Colin Robinson was the impetus to the creation of this podcast. Originally from the Toronto, Canada area, Colin has been a professional drummer/multi-instrumentalist and instructor for decades, and has loads of experience and stories. We could have chatted for hours on end, as we have done for many years now, but we whittled down our conversation with Colin for a great interview segment where he shares the current state of affairs in his world, and a classic tale that goes down as two of the most uniquely exciting shows ever performed in BMG Orlando history!

It has been sung in a Christmas Carol that “one of the finest gifts we bring” is a musical offering, so for this holiday season, Colin and his youngest daughter Mila recorded a phenomenal rendition of “The Little Drummer Boy.” It is pah rumm pah pah-mazing!

The ability for us to do this show, as our “PP Dance”, to share our lives and friendly conversations with our friends and fans of this show is truly a gift that we are so thankful for. It has allowed both of us to get through these times of uncertainty with some hope, optimism, friendship, and humor. We would like to thank all of our welcomed participants for helping this project along, anyone that has contributed or influenced us in any form or way, and for our listeners that give us a reason to do this show. It has been quite an exhilarating journey for us, and we are looking forward to picking it up again and continuing The Kev & James Show in 2021.

Lastly, have we told you that we have merch!?

Thanks to Colt Co, founded by creative digital media master Kristian English Coltman, our brilliantly custom designed logo can be seen on fantastic merchandise items.

Want a K&J logo shirt?

Need a K&J protective face mask?

Got a naked iPhone who’s in a toxically bad relationship and needs a protector bearing the K&J logo?

Go to our Threadless shop and find something nice for yourself, or even a loved one. You will look oh-so-stylin’ and profilin’. The merchandise is great quality, and affordable for any broke guy like us who can barely pay attention.

EP 9: Cassidy Alexander

We released another episode! That's 9 so far! Even we are surprised we can last this long. (that's what she said...)

We suggest you put on your best pandemic comfy sweatpants and fuzzy slippers and cozy up with this hootenanny of a podcast episode. We get a little "coocoo for Team Coco puffs," which is why we brought our friend Cassidy Alexander on to the show to help propel that energy along. She's witty, she's wise... and always a fun hang with the guys! Through the use of flawed and unpredictable interwebbing technology, from her home in Los Angeles, Cassidy discusses her current employment with a comedic hero of ours, some of her creative projects, and weird infatuation with Alfred Hitchcock.

And if that doesn't make you feel some jolly holiday spirit, the featured music of Northern Light Ensemble, with our returning friend Matthew Bloodwell on the drum throne for this EPIC metal holidays-inspired arrangement. Also on this song are previously interviewed K&J guests, Paul Smith Kurt Frohlich, as well as our good buds David Traver and Matt Brown. If you asked for better Christmas music this year, well, you're getting an early gift from us!

It may be warm and delightful here in Orlando, FL right now, but that's not gonna stop us from kickin off the holidays the K&J way, so cheers to our friends and listeners out there in Podcast Land. We hope you are all safe and warm!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

EP 8: Matt Bloodwell

Now that we all have digested our Thanksgiving meals and feverishly shopped online for the Black Friday deals, we invite you to crack open a nice refreshing podcast and hear about what’s going on for our unstoppable friend, Matthew Bloodwell.

He drums, he plays guitar, he sings, he works like a madman when it comes to putting on a rock show or recording a song. There’s no lie in the fact that Matt is one of the hardest working dudes in Orlando who's been at it for many years (and he’s not done yet.) Rumor has it that the Covid flu germ actually called him and asked him to cease “killing it” because Covid was concerned that there would be nothing left for it to ravage anymore if Matt continued on.

You wanna hear an example of Matt’s musical prowess in action? Well, it’s your lucky day. We are fortunate that Matt supplied us with the song “Under the Sun” that was recorded by him and his formidable foursome known as Megaphone. Check it out!

Are you enjoying this? We are.

Please rate, subscribe, like, follow, download, donate and give us some feedback or emails. Consider it the holiday gift to us that keeps on giving.

Enjoy this episode and stay healthy, friends!

EP 7: Paul Smith

The K&J Show gives thanks for Paul Smith Music, and so we aim the spotlight all on him for this episode, and deservingly so! Our good buddy Paul has done it all, from playing guitar for massive artists or working as lead lighting designer for some artists you definitely have seen and heard in the past two and a half decades. Many stories, many laughs, many of Paul’s fondest memories for a candid shared experience for us, and you!

The tune we get to rock on this episode, titled “The Village”, was written by Paul with the band, The Hooligans

Be kind and subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts, please?! We need you to need us so we can be needy together.

Stay healthy and safe, friends

EP 6: Ed Stork

Our last Episode 05 with David Medairos went so incredibly well, that we have decided to keep this little podcast thing going, despite the efforts of the internet gods to crush our spirits and souls. Thank you again, David, for your insights and music!

And now we are happy to share Episode 06, with long time friend and musician Ed Stork. We learn about Ed’s new video documentary series called The Local Lift, and listen to a new track from his band Have Gun, Will Travel.

We hope you will check out his creative contributions to the world, and get your fill of K&J shenanigans for a little while, as we get busy on our next batch of interviews and music to share with you all soon.

Stay healthy and safe, friends

EP 5: David Medairos

What a week!! We released our 4th episode just a few days ago, and our listeners are still digesting that. It's a great hang with our bud, Kurt. Such a blast to interview him and hear a rockin' new song from the newest L.A. Guns record.

A few days ago, we learned that an overwhelming number of our friends and fellow artists in the Disney cast were permanently laid-off and are now in the same boat as many of us... It's crushing news for our entire community of people who are here in Orlando as entertainers that have lost their means of income and livelihoods. This defeating blow takes it's toll on you in many ways, sometimes in a manner that you aren't even aware of, like a mental health ticking time bomb.

To support this fact, we decided to dedicate an episode to mental health awareness. We had heard of a story that lead us to have a conversation with a member of our local arts community, David Medairos, a world-class audio engineer for Cirque du Soleil and guitarist/vocalist of the band Traverser. In this interview, he shares his recent experience of finding out how the stress and emotional trauma of this pandemic had caught up to him, and it was certainly a testimony that resonated with both of us. Along with this discussion, David provided us with a track called "Collapse" off of the latest Traverser album that was released at the top of this crazy year. Huge thanks to David for stepping out of his comfort zone and talking with us about this personal topic, as well as sharing his incredible music with us.

Please give this meaningful episode a listen, as we think you will understand why this is so relevant to everyone, not just the arts community folks who are struggling during these significantly difficult times.

As always, we are thankful for all of the listeners, giving us a place in the podcast world, and for reaching out to us with ideas and content that we will excitedly put to use in the near future.

Be safe, friends. Take care of yourself!

AND VOTE!

EP 4: Kurt Frohlich

We are a few days behind on the release, but who cares?! It's 2020... there's more important things going on in the world today so "It is what it is." But, to make up for this delay, we have prepared an extra special jam-packed show for you all that has more than what you originally bargained for. We are psyched to release our newest episode today, where we are joined by one of the hardest workin' dudes in the music world today. His name is Kurt Frohlich, and he delivers some updates about his current projects, including the release of the debut album as lead singer of the band L.A. Guns! You will hear a track too! Not to mention, you will hear Kurt with possibly one of the best Gene Simmons impersonations ever.

**But wait, there's more!**

AND as an added bonus, you'll get to hear another entertaining tale from our first guest in a new segment we call...Wes Side Stories.

Help us out with a subscribe and a rating if you would be so kind! And if ya like us and want this to live on, help us with a little donation to offset the growing costs of our project here, as well as ensure that James won't run out of hair products for maintaining his glorious mane.

Thank you everyone!

AND GET OUT TO VOTE!

EP 3: Jessica Mariko

Woohooooo! Episode # 3 is out!

Listen in on our chat with good friend Jessica Mariko, the creative powerhouse behind The Haunted Road Drive Thru Halloween Experience, amongst many of her other successful projects. Thanks everyone, and don't forget to send us some thoughts and/or stories for the world to hear.

EP 2: Wes Day

Be sure to check out last week's episode, featuring the multi-talented Wes Day, the Blue Man /Uber Eats Delivery Driver/ Car Salesman extraordinaire!

EP 1: The Prequel
